What is Brainspotting?
Where You Look Is How You Feel
Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful, brain-body therapy that helps access, process, and release stored trauma and emotional distress. It works by identifying specific eye positions—or “brainspots”—that correlate with the areas in the brain where unprocessed experiences and emotions are held.
These brainspots serve as entry points for deeper healing. As you hold your gaze in a specific spot, your brain and body begin to scan, activate, and process stuck material beneath the surface—often without needing to find the “right words.” This allows your nervous system to shift and your body to release what it has been holding onto.
How Brainspotting Works
Brainspotting accesses the subcortical brain, which is the deeper regions involved in emotion, memory, and survival. These include:
The right brain (emotional and nonverbal processing)
The limbic system (emotions and memory)
The brainstem/midbrain (autonomic regulation and trauma response)
This is the part of the brain that stores trauma beyond our conscious awareness and where traditional talk therapy often can’t reach.
Brainspotting harnesses the brain’s natural self-scanning ability to locate, activate, and resolve trauma, pain, and stuck emotional patterns at their root.
One of the unique strengths of Brainspotting is its ability to promote coherence between the sympathetic (fight/flight) and parasympathetic (rest/digest) systems. This means your nervous system learns to regulate more effectively, giving you greater access to calm, clarity, and connection in everyday life.

In a world that teaches us to disconnect from our emotions, instincts, and inner knowing, Brainspotting helps you return to yourself. This approach invites you to listen inward, to the wisdom your body holds, and to surrender to what’s been conditioned out of you by society, trauma, or upbringing.
Through the process, many people find themselves reconnecting with intuition, embodiment, and emotions they’ve long avoided or suppressed.
